We are Independent Financial Advisers, offering unbiased financial advice to our clients and we can recommend the most suitable products, if any, from the whole financial market. This is contrast to tied or multi-tied financial advisers who can only offer products from one or a limited number of companies respectively.
We look at each individual's circumstances, however complex and tailor our advice accordingly. We are not commission product orientated. You can choose whether to pay by fees or offset any product commission generated to pay fees.
The managing director and adviser, Mark Birkett DipPFS, is highly qualified in the industry, holding advanced qualifications in his specialist subjects – retirement options, personal investment planning, taxation and trusts.
With the many changes of legislation – Pensions 'A' Day (2006), Capital Gains Tax (2008), to name two, it is not only important to have an adviser who is well qualified but one that has long term practical experience. Experienced advisers are aware of historical facts and legislation and make informed recommendations about existing policies. We can emphasize what you may be giving up as well as the benefits of any new plan.
Mark Birkett has 20 years of experience in financial services within the financial services industry, working in the Midlands and North-East England. He first became an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA) in 1995 and worked as an IFA at one of the UK's largest accountancy firms. He was then a company director at another IFA firm for several years before setting up his own practice in Nottingham.
We will present complex financial information clearly and concisely. We do not use elaborate marketing jargon and we help you understand financial terminology, so you comprehend the advice given.
Communication can be through letter or email, however we encourage clients to pick up the phone and discuss financial concerns or meet face-to-face. You will have access to the direct telephone number, mobile number and email of your adviser. We will, of course, show you the basic courtesy of getting back to you and doing what we say we will.
Trust between our clients and ourselves is paramount. All relevant information will be fully disclosed in financial reports and the risks and benefits of the recommendations explained. We will always agree a fee first before any financial transaction has taken place and will not place pressure on clients to undertake financial recommendations.
We are committed to maintaining our professional competence. As a member of several professional organisations, we keep up to date on current financial issues in this fast-changing industry. We undertake Continuous Professional Development by attending seminars, studying professional publications and subscribing to daily financial newsfeeds via email. The company uses new technology to streamline systems and access the latest information allowing us more time to converse with clients and research the financial market.
Continuity of service
We focus on building long term relationships with clients. Knowing our clients well ensures we give advice specifically to their needs. As they enter different stages of life and perhaps change their attitude to risk, we can adapt plans if necessary. As legislation changes we discuss with clients how this may affect them and make recommendations accordingly.
We will not disclose any personal information except where authorised by the client, unless there is a legal duty to do so.
